Types of music used in street dance

There is a stereotype that street dancers only like to dance to one kind of music and that is hip-hop, this originally the type of music that street dancers danced to, but as times changed so did dancers, they saw that there was other types of music in which they can adapt to and dance to, this varies according to the style of street dance they are doing, for example lockers now sometimes use a slow violin instrumental while dancing as it coresponds very well to their style of dancing as they can execute slow robotic movements to that type of music. By street dancers looking to use other styles of music it means they can explore with their moves a little bit more, they can widen out the way in which they pop lock and break to fit in with the new styles of music that we listened to today. For example there is now a new genre of music that seems to be taking the UK by storm, this is called dubstep, this has a kind of electronic touch to it so this style of music is used for popers and locker because when the bass drops, it drop hard, therefore giving poppers and lockers the chance to really go hard and give it their all.
